30 Abilene Christian College
Before a student is admitted to the registration room he is
required to have a registration permit from the registrar. This applies
to students who are registering for the first time. Students
who have been in Abilene Christian College before should present
record books.
Students should exercise great care in the selection of their
courses. Promiscuous changing of courses is not permitted, but
during the first six days after the last day of registration, a student
may change his course by paying a fee of 50 cents for each change.
A change means dropping a course or taking up a course.
Loss of Credit for Freshman Subjects Taken During the Senior
Year.-If a freshma.n course is taken after completion of the junior
year's work there will be a loss of one-third of the value of the
course.
Classification of Students
Students are classified as follows:
Freshman.-Students entering with fifteen admission units.
Sophomore.-Students entering with fifteen admission units
and thirty semester hours.
Junior.-Students who have completed sixty semester hours
of work.
Senior.-Students who have completed ninety semester hours of
work.

Definition of Hours
A credit hour consists of eighteen recitation periods. A course
which meets twice per week for eighteen weeks counts as two
semester hours; one that meets three times per week for eighteen
weeks counts as three hours. In case of a laboratory course three
semester hours in the laboratory are equivalent to one hour of
recitation.
Numbering of Courses
All college courses are designated by a number of three digits.
The hundreds digit indicates the number of semester hours the
course is worth. The tens digit tells the rank of the course. The
units digit tells the semester offered. Odd numbers indicate fall
semester and even numbers spring semester. 0 in units digit indicates
the course may be offered either semester. Courses numbered
0 to 19 inclusive are freshman courses. Courses numbered
from 20 to 49 inclusive are sophomore. Those from 50 to 79 inclusive
are junior courses. Those from 80 to 90 inclusive are senior courses.
Thus a course numbered 311 means a three hour course for freshmen
in fall semester, etc. Students taking freshman courses in the senior
year receive only two-thirds of the regular value of the course.
Freshman and sophomore courses are considered elementary and
junior and senior courses are advanced.
Grades
The standing and record of a student is expressed in terms of
