Chemistry of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. Digestion,
absorption, and metabolism of foods. Prerequisite: 331. Two

333-Agriculture Chemistry.
A course particularly designed for students of agriculture. The
chemistry of soils, soil correctives, and fertilizers. Prerequisite:
311, 312. Two lectures and three hours laboratory each week.
334-Agriculture Chemistry.
A supplementary course to 333. Particularly designed for agriculture
students. The chemistry of feeds. Content of feeds,
chemistry of their metabolism by animals, -itamin content and
general value. Prerequisite: 311, 312. Two lectures and three
hours laboratory each week.
341-Quantitative Analysis.
Theory and methods of gravimetric procedures. Representative
gravimetric and electrometric determinations. Two lectures
and four hours laboratory each week. Prerequisite: 311,
312, 321, or 411, 412 with 321 recommended. Two lectures and
four laboratory each week.
342-Quantitative Analysis.
Theory and methods of volumetric procedures. Representative
volumetric and colorimetric determinations. Prerequisite: 311,
312, 321, or 411, 412, with 321 recommended, 341 desirable. Two
lectures and four hours laboratory each week.
361-Water Analysis.
Chemical and bacteriological examination of waters of this vicinity,
solids, hardness, nitrogen, content, etc., of lakes, wells,
and streams. Prerequisite: 341, 342. One lecture and six hours
laboratory each week.
362-Food Analysis.
Chemical study of common foods such as milk, butter, edible
oils, cider vinegar, flavoring extracts, and spices. Analysis ef
alchohol containing substances. Prerequisite: 341, 342. One
lecture and six hours laboratory each week.
371-General Organic Chemistry.
General principles of organic chemistry with emphasis on the
aliphatic compounds, carbohydrates, and proteins. Prerequisite:
311, 312 and six more hours of elementary chemistry. (Premedical
students may take this as 471 by doing additional
work.) Two lectures and three hours laboratory each week, or
three lectures and four hours laboratory each week for 471.
372-General Organic Chemistry.
A continuation of 371. Aromatic, alicyclic, and heterocyclic
compounds, terpenes, alkaloids, and sterols. Two lectures and
three hours laboratory. (Pre-medical students may take this
