COURSES OF INSTRUCTION
382.-Literary Introduction to Old Testament.
Minor Prophets, Isaiah, Job, Psalms and Proverbs are carefully
studied with the definite purpose of understanding the
writings themselves, and o fgrasping their vital spiritual
message. May be accredited as literature in Department of
English.
284.-The Church of Christ.
A comprehensive summarization of all details recorded in
the Bible pertaining to the church.
390.-The Bible and Archaeology.
The monuments and inscriptions of Assyria, Babylonia,
Egypt, and Palestine which have been recently discovered
and translated are studied particularly from the value oi their
testimony to the integrity of the Bible. (Offered as required.)
Prerequisite: Junior standing and consent of instructor.
394.-Christian Evidences.
Nature of evidence, miracles, Christ's life as an evidence of
the divine origin of Christianity, trustworthiness of the
gospels. Open to juniors and seniors.
397.-Church History.
History of faith and practice from the apostolic times to the
present.
BIBLICAL LANGUAGES
GREEK
The courses offered in the Biblical languages are designed to
acquire a working knowledge of each; a knowledge ktf grammatical
principles; and the ability to use vocabulary and apply principles
of grammar to an exegetical study of each of the Covenants
respectively.
For the purpose of promoting a larger interest in the study
of the language of the New Covenant, the Koine, "the Greek world
language that prevailed from about 300 B. C. to close of ancient
history at about A. D. 500," it has been determined by the faculty
committees on curriculum, and requirements for graduation to
offer a "Major" in this language for the Bachelor of Arts degree.
Requirements for the Major and Minors in "Koine" Greek:
Major-24 semester hours, including 371 and 381.
First minor-18 semester hours of English, history, or English
Bible, preferably English.49
