This institution believes that careful attention should be given to
the development of physical manhood and womanhood as well as to
the intellectual and spiritual development. It is the purpose of the
college to stimulate an interest in wholesome athletics, athletics that
will afford an opportunity for healthful exercise, train the mind, and
elevate the morals of those participating. Every possible precaution
is taken to protect all college athletics from any taint of professionalism. While the college engages in inter-collegiate contests the policy of
developing highly specialized intercollegiate teams is subordinated to
that of providing suitable exercise for all students. The following
branches of organized athletics are offered; Tennis, baseball, basket
ball, volley ball, cross country running, track and field sports, with
inter-collegiate, inter-class, and inter-society contests.
For those who do not wish to take part in athletic games other
suitable forms of physical training will be provided.
RULES GOVERNING ATHLETICS!
1. All athletic contests shall be made only with the consent and
under the supervision of the athletic director.
2. The athletic director may suspend from contests or from practice,
students guilty of disorderly conduct.
3. Profane or obscene language on the athletic field or in public
contests is forbidden.
4. No student will be allowed to represent the school who has failed
to make a passing grade in at least four subjects during the previous
term.
Physical training is required of all students. This .is a regular
course and honest work is as imperative in this as in any course given
in the college for good study is dependent on good health. Four hours
a week will be required.SESSION OF 1919-'20
