fore his death Thomas A Edison was asked how he kept his youthful
outlook He had been talking at S2 of things ho was going to do
next
You can keep your brain young by working it hard ho replied
It grows in power with use The only thing that grows old about n
man is his body If my stomach holds out Ill be inventing new and
better things at 100
We aro convinced that Edison was right Of course some men stop
thinking others never did use their brains much But the man who has
a good brain and uses it to its limits grows in ability as time goes on
A LITTLE fioup ot unktterul peasants lould do nothing

clared that He still lived On their report the tomb was examined and I based on three cents per mile for
found empty In the city where He had been put to death disciples set I first class tickets and two cents
to work with results so immediate and astonishiug that even the Ro Gl m ° for coach travel aecord
man authorities were shortly compelled to take notice They began to
produce a literature
The pious men who broke the Bible up into chapters and numbered
verses contributed something to our convenience but they destroyed
the swing and charm of the unbroken narrative
The Scriptures are fed to us in Sunday School in measured doses
of about eight verses a week we read the Bible when we read it at
all one or two chapters a day This Is not our habit with other thrilling
literature we give a good story a real chance by reading it
straight through in a single interested sitting
Try this plan some day with the book of Luke and followit with
tho Acts Forget that you have ever seen the Bible before read the
whole account of the great beginuingh as yon would read any other
finely told chapter of history
It in the story that changed the whole world ln sajlng that we
are not unmindful of the limitations of the work of Jesus He did not
overthrow the oppressive government of Rome He did not lower the
tax race He did not improve sanitary conditions in Jerusalem rnor
erect a public library at Nazareth He did not increase the wages 6f
Christians over those of infidels He taught no sure cure for disease
The economic status of Jesus followers was exactly a it had
been He found them fishermen He left them fishermen He did nothIng
to Justify thou who talk as though the economic interpretation
of history were the last word in wisdom
But His fishermen were different fishermen transformed endowed
with power capable of great faith and magnificent achievement
Through them and their successors He started more philanthropies
than all men who have ever lived Hospitals and clinics charities and
libraries schools and colleges have multiplied where He has inspired
the souls of men
His religion is ib brst asset of civilization That part of the woild
outside of which very frv of ua would willingly spend our da is named
for Him Christendom

points
Convention travel is accorded
when reduced fares are arranged
for specific meetings rates based
on ono and ono third of the first

per mile traveleled in western or
southeeastern territory but slightly
higher to points east of Chicago

It is reported that these low
