In the late 1840s Round Top began to
assume the resilient German character
which remains to this day.The Subject Was Roses
by Dr. William C. Welch8
The garden is an important part of our
life, environment & inheritance. Texas
is a land of flowers, a land of such varied
soil and climate that nearly everything
grows.COVER PHOTO
Released in 1864, Marechal Niel (pronounced
mah-ray-SHAL NEEL) was extensively planted
in Texas and the South. Legendary for the
fragrance and beauty of its blossoms, it was bred
in France. This climbing rose is appreciated for
its almost continuous display of yellow flowers.
At the time it was introduced, there were few
yellow roses and none of comparable quality.
