Untapped Resources
One of the major thrusts of the
National Center for History in the
Schools is to put together as complete
a collection as possible of
exemplary instructional materials
for the teaching of both American
and World History and then make
them available through publications,
conferences and workshops. We believe there are vast untapped
resources of innovative
projects and units for the teaching
of history that are unknown beyond
their place of origin and
which deserve to be made available
to the teaching profession
nationally. Can you or your readers
identify some of the best history
programs and teachers in the
state? If so, we ask that the names
and addresses be sent to us. We
will communicate with them regarding
their willingness to share
materials with us.
Thank you very much for your
assistance.

The Houston Civil War
Round Table is undertaking a
project to locate and identify Civil
War sites in Texas in preparation
for the publication of a booklet
that will serve as a guide to persons
interested in visiting those locations.
If any of your readers know
of publications from the past relating
to Civil War sites in Texas, we
would be grateful to hear of it.

Architecture
"Icons of Faith: A Symposium
on the Preservation of Religious
Architecture in Mexico and the
Southwest" will be held November
2-3, 1989 at Texas Tech University.
It will create a regional
awareness of the need to preserve
churches and synagogues. At the
same time, it will deal with a wide
range of issues concerned with
their preservation and maintenance,
and should appeal to a wide
diversity of interests. For further
information, please contact me.
