These photographs are from the archives of the Harold B.
Simpson Confederate Research Center in Hillsboro. Right: Pictured
is F.M. Burch, Company B, 62NC Infantry. The image below
is of John Beverly Henderson, 1st Texas Infantry, of Cass County,
Linden, Texas. Information on Henderson indicates that he was
born August 1928 and buried in the Red Hill Family Cemetery in
Douglasville, Texas.
The Confederate Research Center includes reference books on
the War Between the States including, "The Official Records",
"Southern Historical Society Papers", and the "Confederate Veterans
& Confederate Military Housing". Researchers will also find
capsule histories of all 3,220 Confederate regiments, special units,
and Confederate ships. More than 5,000 books, brochures, and
pamphlets on the war can also be found at the research center and
museum.
Microfilm references include an index of each Confederate state,
all service records of Hood's Texas Brigade, Texas newspapers
published during the war, 1860 census reports of Texas counties,
post returns of U.S. forts in Texas (1848-61), and an informational
file on Texas-Confederate soldiers.
The center's archives also contain original letters, documents,
maps, and photographs pertaining to the war. In addition,
an extensive file of magazines and newspaper clippings is also
available.

76645; (817) 582-2555. The complex is located on the Hill
College Campus, off of State Highway 22, and is open 8 a.m. to
4 p.m. on weekdays, except college holidays.
Note: The Texas Historical Foundation is currently
working on an update to "Photographic Collections in
Texas: A Union Guide". This book, published in 1987,
lists photographic collections held by libraries, historical
societies, museums, government agencies, corporations,
and other public entities in Texas.
