shall be returnable, aind triable, at the times fixed by this acl,
and that immnediatelV afier the passage of this act it shall be
the duty of t he Secretary of State, to hove the sati:;e published
in the National Vindicator, a newspaper in the town of
Washil'lgton tbr three successive weeks.
SEC. 4. Be it farther cnacted, That this act shall take efect,
and be in fill force from and after its passage.

A JO1NT RESOLUTION
For the relief of Susannah and Thomas Jackson as Mai-1Contractors
for 1838 and 1S39.
SECTION 1. Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Relpre;ittatives
of the Republic of Texas in Congress assembled, That
it shall be the duty of the sheriff of Sabine county to receive
the Auditor's certificate for four hundred dollars, No. 336, in
favor of Susannah and Thomas Jackson for services as mailcontractors
for 1S38 and 1839, which said Auditor's certificate
is dated February 7th 1842, in payment of any direct
taxes due in said county, at the same rate that exchequer
bills are received for the same.
SEc. 2. Be it further resolved, That it shall be the duty
of the Secretary of the Treasury immediately after the passage
of this joint resolution to endorse, on said Auditor's certificate,
an order to the said sheriff; to the. effect as contained
in the first section of this joint resolution, and this joint resolution
shall be in full force from and after its passage.
