girls enjoy. ;
Numbers (1) and (2) are

Jack's skating costumes, shoes
and skates.
To dress Anna Belle and
brother Jack in their skating
costumes, cut out all the figures
and costumes up to the black
out lines, then place the costume
over the figure, bend back the
yellow straps and the costumes
will stay cn. Cut out the shoes
and skates together in the same
manner, bend back the* yellow
straps on each side of shoes and
pfciEte (A to B) behind shoe,
"tlien insert feet.
Anna Belle will be glad to
get more letters from her many
friends telling her of some of
, the good things dear old Santa
Claus brought you, and also
some new suggestions for
dresses, etc. If you can't write
to me yourself, get your mama
or big sister to do so for you.
Address your letters to ANNA
BELLE, this paper.
Next is Anna Belle's and

OUR lesson this time is the book plate. In some cases
a coat of arms, family crest or design pertaining to
the owner's business or hobby is used as a basis for
the design
la making a copy of this lesson, take your pencil and
rule iines through the figure, as shown in Fig. 2. Then
on your drawing paper, making the same number of lines
in proportion to the ones you have made in Fig. 1. The
whole figure .will be cut up in squares the width and
length of the head. The square in which the head comes
can 6e subdivided to get the features in their proper posi-
tion if you wish. (See Fig. f
When you have the outlines of the figure in the cor-
rect proportion, the next, thing to do is to put the outlines
of the shading in their proper position, as shown in Fig
Use great care in making your pen lines conform In
direction and thickness with those shown in Fig. 1. F '8
4 shows the method used In making the black letters. T he
same method should be used in making the letters undei
the figure.
Always pencil in everything lightly at first, so that
the lines are easily erased when you wish tc make an\
changes. Always begin inking at th« upper left cornei
of a picture (unless you are left-handed), so that yout
drawing hand will not drag over the wet ink Try and
have your drawing look clean and neat when finished
Our drawing lesson for next time is THE OA I • Keep
studiously at these lessons and you will find yourself im-
proving wonderfully in your drawing.
