"DUDYARD KIPLING tells a fascinating story "How the New Ship found Her-
^ self" as she leaves port on her virgin trip, the creaking of the fresh joints, the
groaning of the weighted masts, the busy thug, thug of new machinery is trans-
lated into words that reveal the disturbances which attend the early progress of a
new venture, but which are gradually eliminated and supplanted by smoother
action as time progresses. The January White Sale launches into its fourth day
tomorrow under full head of steam—in fine working order and under perfect con-
trol. Any little irregularities that there may have been during the rush of the past
three days have been overcome, and with stocks readjusted, new goods brought out
from reserve and plenty additional help we are ready tomorrow for another
record breaking business. Instead of being on the wane—the sale has just
begun—just "found" itself.
