Dear Editor
I am attaching an editorial from
the Dallas Morning News of July
11th You may sandwich this between
some of that smut and pewter
you gouge out of some of these
rags from here and there This will
give that page some poise and bal
ance It will at least tone down the
constant smelly odor that is so
nauseating What have the people of
Swisher County done to deserve
such a curse
Old things pass away The country
editor is fast becoming a memory
Progress and advancement put
the old boy on the cooling board
there to remain and it is well that
it be that way
WOW It looks like another normal
year in Texas politics I am
sure E Presley is amused He
brought the boys something new He
is leaving something behind I nev
er dreamed that I would live long
enough to see candidates for governor
of the great state of Texas
address an audience then go out in
the crowd with hat in hand with
no pencils and mooch money to
make money Some of them have
hot oil money protruding from their
hip pockets
Yes it is a rock n roll campaign
de luxe You have my sympathy
You boys will soon trudge to the
polls to vote justlike PAW voted
Yours very truly

CASE OF PRESIDENTS HEALTH
Dallas Morning News
Up to Tuesday morning the Presidents
health has been made a sort
of whodunit mystery by the meddlers
of both parties The question of
whether Dwight Eisenhower can or
will seek reelection has been bandied
about by all sorts of political
quacks It has been discussed by
everybody except the one actual authority
in the matter the President
himself
Tuesday when Ike had determined
the situation on competent medical
advice and on the basis of his personal
knowledge of his physical
status he announced that he would
go on as the candidate for the re
nomination It was as simple as
thatMost
Most of the American people are
aware that the White House currently
is not occupied by a politician
in sharp contrast with the tenants
of the two decades 193252
Most of us surely must have known
that the President unlike at least
one of his two immediate predecessors
has had no intention of play
ing politics with his medical record
In his original announcement that
he would seek renomination and reelection
if party and people so desired
Ike made that clear enough
He found himself in shape to run
If there was a subsequent reversal
of the condition he would not run
There has been in the interval a setback
in the form of a different ailment
Logically that called for post
treatment analysis and reappraisal
The sensible President had no intention
of rushing into a Roosevel
tian announcement He had made it
clear that he intended to act in
good faith in the matter of his health
He has
The amount of hooey offensive
and defensive spread around so
simple a matter has encumbered
but not improved the American
scene The amount of newspaper
radio and TV space and time wasted
in quoting illwishing Democrats

EDITORS NOTE Anything
from the Dallas Morning News or
any of the other tools of big business
the special Interests and the
Republican party would be entirely
out of place in a column devoted
to the honest opinions of country
editors of Texas who arc the
last vestige of honest grass roots
close to the people democratic
thinking In Texas Certainly we
will reprint the Dallas News editorial
which you enclosed but
we would not Insult the Integrity
of the falrmlndcd country editors
of Texas whom we quote by
causing their editorials to rub
shoulders with anything from the
Dallas News We hope that It Is
only wishful thinking on your part
when you say the country editor
Is fast becoming a memory because
we both well know that the
country editor traditionally has
been the mouthpiece of the little
people the masses the lovers of
democracy while the big dailies
beat the drums for Brown Root
Wall Street General Motors the
monopolies natural resources interests
and their fellow travellers
You Republicans could well wish
for the extinction of the country
editor which you say progress
and advancement has put on the
cooling board and it is well
that it be that way You Republicans
could well wish for the stifling
of every voice except those
of the Dallas News the Luce publications
and other mouthpieces
we could mention which will say
nothing that the big fat Republicans
dont want said We can well
imagine the delight of you Republicans
if the Democratic voice of
even this little newspaper was
silenced Concerning the interest
we all have In the Presidents
health wed say that every American
has a right to know the truth
and to have a part In the Presidents
decision to run or not to

THE NEW COVENANT ITS BEGINNING
A proper understanding of the distinction between
the Old and the New Covenants would eliminate much
of the confusion among religious denominations today
With the desire to help eliminate such confusion this
article is presented
The Old Covenant had to end before the new could
begin Heb 109 In no instance has God had two conflicting
laws governing His people at the same time
The Old Law was in force until the death of Christ
Col 214 Rom 74 The work of John the Immerser
and the personal rninistry of Jesus were performed under
the law Both of their ministries were preparatory
to the New Covenant No New Covenant institution
became operative while the law was in force In view of
these promises let us consider the work of John and
Jesus Each one proclaimed the approaching kingdom
Some have thought that John established the church
but he did not live to enter the kingdom he proclaimed
He never became a Christian because they were called
Christians first in Antioch Acts 1126 and John died
much earlier Matt 1111 Even Jesus did not build
His church during his personal ministry The terms
The Church The Gospel and Christian were New
Covenant terms The Law had to end before these terms
could be used
In his personal ministry Jesus forgave sins evidently
in the sense that forgiveness became absolute when
he shed his blood Heb 922 The advocates of the
doctrine of justification by faith only seeking support
for their theory seize upon these cases The sick of the
palsy Matt 9 the sinful woman Luke 7 Zacchaeus
Luke 19 and the thief on the cross Luke 23 They
conclude that since nothing is said of baptism in any
of these instances baptism is not a condition of pardon
Many religious people seem not to know that Christs
law of pardon or the conditions of forgiveness under
the gospel had not at this time been revealed Read
Matt 281820 Luke 244647 Mark 161516
The first Pentecost after the resurrection of Christ
marks the beginning of the New Covenant Christ had
ascended to His Father and the Holy Spirit was now
being sent to guide the Apostles into all truth On this
day a crucified and risen Christ was proclaimed the
church was established and the saved were added to it
by the Lord This was the beginning of the will of Christ
