THE GIFT UEAlTIFlL
A day or two after Christmas
I met a fellow townsman on the
street and after we had exchanged
the usual greetings I asked him
if he had had a nice and a happy
Christmas Oh he said nothing
special It was just another
day with me I suppose you
got your share of gifts I said
No he replied I didnt get
many nothing much With more
persistence than strict politeness
might warrant I said Well anyway
you got a lot of pleasure out
of giving gift to others No
he said I didnt get any pleasure
out of that I didnt give my
gifts to any one That it reems
to me was the secret

clay to him It was only another
day Christmas is the one day in
which we can give to others
Strangely enough the thrill that
we get on receiving is short lived
It is a brief pleasant memory but
the thrill that comes from giving
omethnes lives for days and dnys
I It isnt the size of the gift that
I counts its the amount of ones
self that goes with it that counts
I There is as much joy in giving a
i small basket of fruit on Christmas
day as there is in bestowing a gift
of great value There is as much

small gift as there is in the giving
of the treasure Christmas is n

In the opinion of a local Republican
his party is going to
have to get a better platform
than merely a criticism of the
acts of the present administration
It is going to have to lay its
program on the table and tell us
It is little 1 what and how it is going to do
things Wiil it settle the strikes
and how will it do it Will it
settle the housing matter and how

The final income tax return
has to be in by January 15 The
income tax department does not
allow enough time to make this
