Mrs. /. T. Ramon.
! Relatives and friends of Mrs.
John T. Ranson received the ex-
1 pected and yet exceedingly sad
news last Thursday that she had
died at 3:30 p. m., at the home
| of her father-in-law, E, A. Ran-
son. She had been stricken with
I paralysis about a week befoie
and it had been known for two
or three days that her death was
[only a matter of short time. The
| funeral took place Friday after-
i noon at 2:30 o'clock at the Chris-
I tian church and a large crowd
1 of sympathizing friends gather-
led to pay their last respects.
The pastor, Rev. H. M. Brooks,
I with much feeling pronounced
the last sad rites over the re-
mains.
Mrs. Ranson was raised in
Seymour and was known in her
girlhood days as Miss Lena Leo-
ta Higgins. She received her
education in the Seymour public
schools. About eighteen years
ago she was happily married to
•John T. Ranson, a prominent
young business man of the town.
Two children were born to them,
Van Karl, aged 16 or 17 years,
and I,eona, aged 11 or 12, De-
ceased was in the thirty-eighth
year of her age. Practically all
of her life has been spent here,
having lived a while in MiHsouri
and Minnesota and for the past
year at Goree,
Mrs. Ranson has long been a
member of the Christian church
and lias been a most active work-
er. She was a lady of most ex-
cellent character and enjoyed
the esteem of all who knew
her. She was in the prime of a
useful life and it seems peculiar-
j ly sad and unfortunate that she ;
should be called away now. The
Banner joins a host of friends
in sympathy for the bereaved
family.

New Real Estate Firm.
A fact not hitherto announced
in these columns is that the real
estate firm of Brigman & Kerr
has been dissolved, A new firm
has just been formed with S. W.
Blocker, A. D. Kerr and W. A,
Jones as partners. These gen-
tlemen are too well known to
need introduction. it might be
said, though, that each man
brings Into the firm a special
talent. Mr. Blocker is a sales
man of no small ability, Mr.
Kerr is county surveyor and fa-
miliar with all the country, while
Mr. .Jones is abstractor, as well
as having been surveyor a num-
ber of years. On the eve of a
great development which we
hope the new railroad to bring
these gentlemen will doubtless
do their, share iri selling our lands.
Its Dangerous.
To neglect a cold the renults
are too often very serious. Bron-
chitis, Pleurisy, Pneumonia and

consequences. Upon the appear-
ance of a cold sore throat or

Mr. S, H. Post, proprietor of
"Th" Home Abstract and Title
Co.," api/ears with an advertise-
ment. of his abstract business in
the Baylor County Banner of its
March 5th issue. In this adver-
tisement Mr, Post states that he
has bought the abstract books of
Messrs. Fancher, Rupe & Fran-
cis, formerly "leased by Mr.
Jones." As i arn the "Mr. .Jones"
evidently referred to in this ad-
vertisement, and as the state-
ment i:> incorrect, misleading and
calculated to carry to the public
the wrong impression, I desire,
in this connection, to state that
I have never had the abstract
books referred to leased; have
not ha<J them in my possession,
and have not used them in my
abstract office. I arn the general j
manager of the Baylor County
Abstract Company, and the Com-;
pany has a complete set of ab-
stracts of the county the only

and we have had no occasion to
use tiie set of books heretofore
owned by Fancher, Rupe & Fran-
cis. As heretofore, I am pre-
pared to make abatracta on ahort
notice at reaaonable prices, and
will appreciate from the public a
continuation of their patronage.
