Cotton Growers
Vote On Market
Quotas Saturday
A call for all eligible SvPisher
ctjanty cotton grower s to vote in
trnT marketing quota referendum
Saturday was made today by
Frank C Cobb chairman of the
County AAA committee
Reviewing the referendum background
Cobb points out that
there are two important facts for
growers to consider First that a
marketing quota is provided by
the agricultural adjustment act
of 1938 when cotton supplies are
seven per cent or more above normal
second that a twothirds
majority of the growers voting in
the cotton belt is required to put
Xquotas into effect
Todays cotton supplies arc 37
per cent above normal he said
The world supply of American
cotton is estimated at 25 million
bales as compared to the normal
supply which is made up of normal
exports and domestic consumption
plus an adequate allowance
for carry over of about 18
million bales
world consumption of American
cotton is not indicated in the im
Tmediate future Past history shows
