Academic Organization and Degrees
Pre-Engineering Requirements
The Core Curriculum for Engineering
Colleges, as approved bythe Coordinating
Board, Texas College and University System,
in 1968, lists 49 semester hours of
courses which are offered at Hardin-Simmons
University and aretransferrable.They
include:

Representatives of Texas Tech University
have indicated that an additional 10 semester
hours probably would be accepted
as follows:
Physical Education (or eq u ivalent) .. 4
Modern Physics (as an elective) .... 3
Computer Science ............. 3
*At some schools the first semester of Physics
is now being eliminated from the Engineering
curriculum, thus reducing the
number of transferrable hours of physics
to four.
The Physics which may be transferred
must be calculus-based. Many entering
freshmen will not be prepared to undertake
this course in which case they may
wish to take a non-calculus physics course
as a preparatory study while improving
their mathematics capabilities. Alternatively,
the student may wish to delay starting
physics until such a time as he is prepared
to undertake the transferrable course.
