academic excellence to the senior
student who has maintained the highest
standing throughout his college
course and has shown promptness
and punctuality. The student must
have successfully completed at least
110 semester hours' work in HardinSimmons
University.
The Winnie K. and D. M. Wiggins
Medal
The Winnie K. and D. M. Wiggins
medal is awarded to the senior student
graduating at the close of the
summer session for academic excellence
throughout his entire college
career. The medal will go to one who
has spent three or more years in resi.dence
and who has excelled in
character, personal development,
and academic achievement.
Other Awards
The Alpha Chi Award
The Julius Olsen Chapter of the
Alpha Chi Scholarship Society annually
awards a dictionary to the freshman
man or woman who makes the
highest scholastic average on a
minimum of 30 semester hours for the
year.
The Alpha Psi Omega Medals
Two medals are awarded annually,
one to a young man, one to a young
lady, for the best acting in major
theatre productions during the year.
Selections are based on performance
in a single role.Artists of Dionysus Award
An anonymous donor has established
an Artists of Dionysus Award for
students majoring or minoring in
theatre who are regularly enrolled and
in good standing with HardinSimmons
University. The recipient
must have attended Hardin-Simmons
University for a minimum of two years
and have at least a 2.0 overall grade
point average. The award is to be bestowed
on those students whose high
quality of participation in any or all
areas of the theatre merits recognition
and encouragement. It is designed for
the student who exhibits exceptional
ability, talent, creativity, and dedication
to the concept of theatre as it is
presented by Hardin-Simmons University
through the Van Ellis Theater.
The award will consist of two $100.00
gifts. One may be presented to an outstanding
male student and the other to
an outstanding female student meeting
the above qualifications. A special
committee will be appointed by
the President of the University to recommend
the recipient. The committee
may, at their discretion, present the
entire $200.00 to one student or may
determine that no award will be made
for a particular year. The recipient
may use the award in any of the following
ways:
1. It may be applied to his next
year's tuition;
2. He may apply it to his school
loan;
3. It may be used for the purchase
of theatre or theatre-related
books through the Hardin____
