First Baptist Church, Lubbock,
Ministerial Student Grant
An endowed fund has been established
through the First Baptist
Church, Lubbock, Texas, with the income
to provide a scholarship or
grant to a junior or senior student. The
recipient will be designated by the
Student Aid Committee, upon the
basis of a recommendation from a
screening committee composed of
the head of the Bible Department and
two elected members of the First Baptist
Church of Lubbock. The award is
limited to ministerial students who
plan a preaching ministry with preference
being given to ministerial students
from the First Baptist Church of
Lubbock, Texas.
German Grant
The income from a gift from August
Beurman of Newark, New Jersey, is
awarded annually as a grant to a student
of German parentage.
Glasgow Ministerial Grants
An anonymous friend of Christian
Education has established the Horace
T. Glasgow and parents, Obe T. Glasgow
and Minnie Glasgow, Ministerial
Grant Program at H-SU. This fund will
provide a minimum of $1,800 peryear
up to a maximum of $3,600 per year
for ministerial grants. Recipients must
be licensed Southern Baptist
preachers and preference will be
given to students from the Northwest,
but if none apply from that region
others will be eligible. Each student
who receives one of these grants must
first make application to Rev. GeraldTidwell, Pastor, First Baptist Church,
Seminole, Texas. These grants will be
available through the Student Financial
Aid Office.
Rachel Louisa Hayes Grant
This annual grant of $270.00 has
been endowed by Mr. and Mrs. William
M. Hayes of San Jose, California,
in honor of his mother. To be eligible,
the applicant must be unmarried,
worthy, in need of aid, and have at
least a 2.0 grade point average.
Eugene Holman Grant
This endowed grant was made possible
by a gift from the Standard Oil
Company (New Jersey) in memory of
Eugene Holman, a 1916 graduate of
Hardin-Simmons University and
former President of the Standard Oil
Company of New Jersey. The income
from this fund provides $1,500.00 or
more each year to needy and worthy
students meeting the University requirements
for such assistance.
W. B. Irvin Missionary Grant
This grant has been endowed by Dr.
and Mrs. W. B. Irvin of Dallas, Texas,
with a gift which provides the income
each year for grants. The amount varies
with $4,000.00 or more available
each year. These awards are on the
basis of personality, aptitude, and
need. The grants are for volunteers to
home and foreign missions of the
Southern Baptist Convention.
