Landry Blackstock, Kenan Boland, Ben Sword, Toni
Bracy, Julie Welker, and Stephen McKenzieThe tradition of a student speaker organization is almost as old a
Howard Payne. Annual debates between Howard Payne and Simmons
College were begun in 1905. In those days, there were as many fans
of the speaking team as there were of athletics. The individual students
would later form into organizations such as Oratorical Association, Pi
Kappa Delta, and the Forensics Team. The Student Speaker Bureau is
comprised of speech majors that must audition for membership and be
a member of Pi Kappa Delta, a national forensics organization.55
