The disabled men have been at
work throughout the winter and
spring, with material supplied
arid earnings paid by the Ameri

interesting to do and is consid
ered valuable as occupational
therapy. For many of the vet-

The commissioners' court call-
ed an election Tuesday for a
$75,000 bond issue for enlarg-
ing and improving the Shackel-
ford County Memorial Hoapitol.
The election was set for Satur-
day, June 12.
The court was presented a pe-
tition last week, igned by more
than 200 voters, asking that the
election be called.
The election notice, carried in
this i.- ue of the N'esvs, state*
the bond will bear not more
than four percent interest, and
are to be paid off in not more
than 25 years. It is expected
the bonds ssill be sold for eon-
iderablye lss than four percent,
judging from past sales of local
bonds.
The hospital architect, Joe E.
Hlanton of Albany, has completed
plan . for the addition of ten pa-
tient room- on the west end of
the hospital. The rooms will be
added at a "T" on the rear, to
match the front of the buildinff.
When the hospital was built, it
was anticipated that additional
rooms would have to be added,
'and sufficient facilities were
put in to care for a larger hot-
| pital.
During the past winter the
Moran, hospital has been full most of the
time, and at times every available
, room, and the halls, had to b*
I used for the patients. For thi*
reason, those interested in the
hospital believed the time has ar-
rived to enlarge the hospital to
make it of greater service to the
sick of the county.
It is estimated that the bond
issue can be paid off with an;
assessment of 7c per $100, based
on a million dollar valuation for
tlve county. This small cost will
