Negro Women officers
and members were urged
to face the challenges
and choices of the 21st
Century, at the 44th
National Convention,
which convened in
Washington, D,C. in
Nov.-Dec. 1989. Speakers
from the Washington
Census Bureau made
pre-reser vat ions.
The ">an Antonio
Section, NCNW has
followed up by sharing
data • and poster^ in the
community. On March 1st
members and officers
received tirst hand
information from Mr. L.

The presentations were
on the history of the
census, the importance of
(Slack Americans and
other minorities being
counted in Census '90,
April 1st. The census is
taken every ten years.
The data of Census '90 is
essential to our
community as well as the
nation for providing
health and human
services for senior
citizens, children,
education, public services
and employment.
Citizens are urged to
take advantage of the job
opportunities being made
available to persons who
apply and pass the test.
Jobs as enumerators,
crew leaders, clerks, data
transcribers, supervisory
office clerks are
available. Men are urged
to apply!
A question and answer
period added to the
presentation. Hand-outs
were distributed related
to the test, the Black
Gates Elementary School participants of choir, drill
team and proud youth with excellence in Black
History activities are posing with their principal,

of Texas, was in San Antonio recently campaigning.

West gave the invocation.

served at the close of the
meeting.
The next meeting of
NCNW will be held on
April 5, 1990, at 5 p.m.,
at the Eastside
Multi-Purpose Center.
Topic: The African
American Family.
Members are urged to
attend and bring a friend.
