OPPORTUNITY IS KNOCKING
by RALPH A. BICKLEROpportunity is knocking at your door. Hurry
to the door and welcome opportunity. It has
often been said that opportunity knocks but
once. I do not believe that such is always
true. Another and another opportunity may
come your way. If you do not open the door
at each knock and see which opportunity is
presenting itself, you may miss the very one
you have been hoping and looking for.
Opportunity is not always easily recognized.
It may not have a glittering appearance. It
may not look like the opportunity you had
pictured in your mind, but do not close the
door without examining what the opportunity
has to offer. The offer may not be a dazzling
one. It may be one with a small beginning
but it may have a bright and promising fu-
ture. Look at opportunity critically, considerseriously what is being presented and make
sure that this is an opportunity of which you
want to take advantage.
The opportunity of becoming a member of
the Junior Division of the Texas State His-
torical Association has been available since
1939. Those persons who are eligible to be-
come members of the Junior Historians of the
Association should consider themselves for-
tunate indeed. The benefits afforded members
are many and varied and, if accepted, will
lead to pleasures and successful endeavors
which will enrich their lives.
May I, who did not have this particular
opportunity that is knocking at your door,
suggest that you embrace it and be thankful
that it has come your way.
