up his first win of the season. Emens pitched a complete seven-inning game, struck out six Pirates and gave up no earned runs.
The Cowboys then battled with Montclair State in their last game of the tournament. The Cowboys managed to win a close
game in the seventh inning, 9-8. Tabor (2-1) was credited with the win. Rodriguez had a two-run homer and Schlaffer had a one-run
homer in the third inning.
Howard Payne was the Cowboys first ASC West opponent. The Cowboys came away with one win in the three-game series.
HSU dropped HPU 15-7 in the first game of the doubleheader. The Cowboys set a season high of 20 hits in a game and Schlaffer had
two home runs while Ryan Devere and Anderlohr had one home run in the win. Hinds (3-0) picked up the win.
HSU then took on its only Division II opponent this year, Tarleton State, in a nine-inning non-conference game. The Cowboys
lost 15-9. Anderlohr led the team with two home runs, five RBIs and two runs.
With an 8-9 overall record and 4-5 in ASC play, the Cowboys faced Sul Ross State on the road. HSU won the three-game
series 2-1. The Cowboys won 6-3 in the first game and 17-6 in the first game of the doubleheader HSU scored 32 runs on 41 hits and
Anderlohr had two home runs while Rodriguez had one home run in the three-game series. Pitchers Tabor (3-2) and Hinds (4-0) were
credited with the conference wins.
After the 2-1 sweep of Sul Ross, the Cowboys were 10-10 overall and 6-6 in ASC action and were about to face then No. 1
Texas Lutheran. TLU swept the Cowboys 3-0. HSU did manage to score 7 runs on 15 hits in the three-game series. Pitchers Tabor
(3-3), Jonathan Emens (1-1) and Jared May (0-1) took the losses for the Cowboys. The three losses set HSU at 6-9 in conference action.
The Cowboys bounced back and won a non-conference two-game series with Austin College on the road. In the first game,
HSU dropped AC 8-5 and in game two, the Cowboys won 3-2. The Cowboys scored 11 runs on 17 hits and Anderlohr led the team
with four hits and three RBIs. Blake Wallace and Craig Foreman earned their first wins of the year. Wallace struck out five Kangaroos
while Foreman struck out seven.
At the mid-point of conference action, the Cowboys were 12-13 overall and 6-9 in conference and looking to face four more
ASC West opponents. HSU was set to next face cross-town rival, McMurry at home. The Cowboys lost the series 2-1. HSU did win
over McM 8-6 in the first game of the doubleheader. The Cowboys scored eight runs on eight hits and Devere had two home runs
while Gandy had one. Tabor (4-3) picked up the win.
On April 8th, the Cowboys picked up their 14th win against Trinity, 5-3. Craig Foreman (2-5) struck out six Tigers and was
credited with the win. Gandy had his second home run of the season.
The Cowboys were ready to face the next ASC West opponent, Mary Hardin-Baylor on the road. HSU swept UMHB 2-1 in
the three-game series. The Cowboys lost 7-3 in the first game but won 12-2 in the first game of the doubleheader and 7-5 in the second
game of the doubleheader. HSU scored 22 runs on 31 hits and Tabor (5-3) and Emens (2-2) picked up the wins. Jeff Wisner had
his first home run of the season in the 12-2 win.
HSU took a blow from Southwestern on April 15th. The Cowboys lost 6-0, which dropped their overall record to 16-17. With
their confidence shaken, the Cowboys gained it back when they swept Schreiner 3-0. HSU won 16-4 in game one, 3-2 and 7-6 on
senior day and the last home game of the season. The Cowboys scored 26 runs on 32 hits in the three-game sweep. Brady Coke,
Rodriguez and Harrington all had one home run each in the 16-4 win. Hinds (5-2), Tabor (5-3) and Josh Bishop (1-0) were credited
with the wins. Hinds pitched a complete nine-inning game and struck out seven Mountaineers while Tabor pitched a complete seveninning
game and struck out six of Schreiner's players.
The sweep over Schreiner put HSU 19-17 overall and 12-12 in conference play. The Cowboys last non-conference opponent
was the University of Dallas. HSU lost 9-8 at Dallas. Harrington led the team with three hits and two RBIs. Foreman (2-7) struck
out five Crusaders but took the loss for the Cowboys.
HSU's last conference opponent was front-runner Concordia. The Cowboys managed to win one game in the three-game
series. HSU lost 15-2 in the first game and 5-2 in the first game of the doubleheader but won 9-8 in their last game of the season. The
Cowboys scored 13 runs on 30 hits against Concordia in the three games and Harrington, Coke, Whitworth and Wisner all had one
home run each in the 9-8 win. Foreman (3-7) picked up the last win of the season.
The Cowboys finished the season at 20-20 overall and 13-14 in ASC action. Strader, Anderlohr and Tabor were named ASC
West Players of the Week. Anderlohr led the Cowboys with a .378 batting average and was tied for second on the team with five home
runs. John Schlaffer led the team with six home runs and 50 RBIs on the year. Chuy Rodriguez led the Cowboys with four triples, 15
doubles and 51 hits on the year.
First baseman Andy Harrington led with 245 put outs while catcher Seth Gandy trailed with 155 put outs on the year. Third
baseman Chuy Rodriguez led with 107 assists on the year. Ryan Devere led with 20 base on balls and Brandon Beene was hit by pitch
11 times.
Kyle Tabor (6-4) pitched 71 innings, struck out 49 opponents and gave up 29 earned runs on the year. Matt Hinds (5-3) made
18 appearances, pitched 51 innings and struck out 27 opponents. Craig Foreman (3-7) pitched 52 innings and struck out 41 opponents.49
