1870. The days I attended were Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday."
A list of deaths in this diary is of great value, because most of them do
not now have grave stones to identify them. This may be the only source searchers
will find the information:
A. J. LaGrone, departed this life, September 8, 1869. (Hi's father and this
one has a marker.)
William Mowden (?), youngest child od Edy, departed this life 9th of
September, 1869.
Miss Margaret Belsh died 21st of May, 1870.
Tenny Gibbs, died on the 7th of August, 1870.
E. H. Gibbs, died on the 9th of August, 1870.
Fany L. Gibbs, died on the 11th of August, 1870.
Frank Mason, died on the 15th of August, 1870.
F.M. Wilkerson, died on the 11th of August, 1870.
Alford Johnson, departed this life on 13th of October, 1870.
John Shadowens, departed this life, April, 1871.
Abmity(?) Jackson, wife of B. M. Jackson, departed this life on the 18th of
October, 1870, about the hours of 2 or 3 in the morning, and was buried the
20th about half-past four o'clock in the evening, age 16 years, 9 months,
and 15 days. (Hi's sister.)
B. M. Jackson, departed this life on the 17th of July, 1871, about sunrise,
at the age of 20 years to the day.
Casper Hedric departed this life on the 7th day of October, 1871, about
67 years old.
Other important data is scattered through the diaries, including:
H. C. LaGrone and M. E. Potts were married June 20, 1867.
H. C. LaGrone was born December 21, 1847.
M. E. LaGrone was born November 10th, 1855; Margaret Emma LaGrone, departed
this life, March 17th, 1872; at 5 o'clock in the morning, age 18 years, 4
months, 7 days old; married 4 years, 8 months and 28 days.
