New York, Nov'r 28th 1859

Mr. Young, Esq.

Dear Sir,

I am in receipt of
yours of Oct. 23rd to Mr. Geo. Durham in relation
to my [ ] league of land in Cook Co. and
to avoid unnecessary delay I write to
you in answer direct.

I will at present take
four thousand five hundred dollars cash down
for the [ ] league & give a quit claim deed to
the purchaser (the same which I have from
the State or late Republic of Texas) I am not
disposed to sell upon time, being so far dis-
tant.

It is to be supposed that
in your part of the U.S. you are not disturbed
with such abolition excitement as are the people
hereabout no doubt you feel full sensibly the attempted
revolution of these northern abolition
fanatics. I fear the worst has not yet arrived!
There is much danger of a dissolution of the Union.

I am very respectfully your friend,
& [ ] senior

Thos. [ ] Ward

Address me at
Post Office Box 3132 N.Y.
