J. L. McFarland, exchanged wed-
ding vows Thursday. September
4. 1958. in the First Christian
Church of Claude.
The Rev. James Todcl read the
double ring service before an al-
ter decorated with palm leaves,
candelabra and baskets of gladi-
oli. A white kneeling bench cen-
tered the alter area.
Nuptial music was furnished by
Mrs. Sharon McFarland. sister-in-
law of the bridegroom, and Henry
Hardaway, vocalist.
Mrs. Yvonne Cobb, matron of
honor, and Miss Marilyn Mathe-
scn, bridesmaid, wore identical
balerina-length dresses of aqua
taffeta and net with matching
bow headdresses. They carried
bouquets of white carnations.
Ring bearer was Randy Anglen
and Denna Summit was flower
girl. Candle lighters were Larry
Roan of Amarillo and Stanley
Webb.
Roland Hillock of Friona serv-
ed as best man and groomsman
was Jerry Knierim. Ushering
were Jimmie McFarland, brother
of the bridegroom. David Appling
and Ben Ballard.
The bride, given in marriage
by her brother, Luther Brown,
was attired in a ballerina-length
gown of lace and taffeta and she
carried a white orchid atop a
white Bible.
A reception was held in Fellow-
ship Hall of the church following
the wedding. The serving table
was centered with a bouquet of
gladioli on a blue tafeta and blue
net cloth. Guests were registered
by Mrs. Ronald Byard of Am-
arillo. Assisting with the serving
were Miss Melda Hundley, Mrs.
Bill Brady and Mrs. Sharon Mc-
Farland.
Mrs. McFarland is a graduate
of Claude High School and her
husband is a sophomore student

Dorcas Class met Thursday,
September 11th in the hasement
of the First Baptist Church with
Mrs. J. H. Thomas as hostess.
Those enjoying a covered dish
luncheon were Mmes, Myrtle
Hicks, Ada Neely, Rennie Kemp,
Emily Justiss, Florence Hogg,
Emma Hathorn, Zelpha Davis,
Blanton, Mattie Woods, Mae
Dean, Ona Corbin and John Ella
Hathorn.
After lunch meeting was called
to order by the president, Mrs.
Zelpha Davis. Mrs. Hicks gave
the devotional , Mrs. Hogg read
the minutes and gave the report.

9th with Mrs. Justiss.

24 at 9:30 in the home of Mrs.
Buddy Campbell.
Mrs. Dorothy Campbell, circle
chairman, presided for the busi-
ness.
Joyce Bell led the 3rd session
on the study "Understanding
Other Cultures", giving "How
People Live Together".
Beckie Sorrells gave "The Na-
ture of the Non-Western World".
Mary Ann Swenning showed
some pictures of other countries
cultures.
Ann Christian closed the group
with a prayer.
Refreshments were served to
Delia Hundley, Joyce Bell, Mary
Ann Swenning, Beckie Sorrells,
Ann Christian, Katheryn Watson,
Leta Goodin, Dorothy Campbell.
Maiden Harmony
hold luncheon
The Maiden Club met Friday,
Sept. 26, . at Warner Community
Home for a luncheon. Each one
brought a covered dish. Frances
Reck was hostess.
We were happy to have our
visitors, Gladys January Jewell
Chauveaux, former members and
others.
Enjoying the lunch and visit-
ing were Edith Ballard, Eva
Nlckell, Maxine Weaver, Anna
Bell Hughes, Viola Nfckell, Su-
vania Sanders, Ettie Conrad, Ol-

'Serves 10-12)
i cups dried figs
1 cup orange juice
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Vfe teaspoon vanilla
2 cups day-old cake cubes
Clip stems from figs; cut in
quarters and simmer in orange
juice, stirring occasionally until
juice is absorbed This takes
about 5 minutes. Fold vanilla
into cream, then blend in gent-
ly the figs and cake cubes. Chill
for at least 4 hours before serv-
ing. Spoon into sherbet glasses
or sauce dishes.
