The disabled and nondisabled join hands
in Post 2027 of Salt Late Qify, Utah.
The day was
perfect for skiing.
Yes, there were
clouds blowing over,
but when the sun broke
through, the slopes glistened.
The air was crisp, the colors of
parkas and caps were merry.
And next to me on the lift, an
attractive blonde-haired teen-
ager, LeeAnn Mahoney, was
discussing, of all things, the
Explorer post of which she is
president.
"We go everywhere," she
said, and as she listed the ac-
tivities, I began to believe her.
In the past couple of years,
i- >'
Post 2027 of Salt Lake City
has run the Green and the Col-
orado Rivers; gone horseback
riding and camping in Jackson
Hole, Wyo., and Yellowstone
National Park; interviewed a
psychologist about his profes-
sion, and even toured a mortu-
ary!
"This year we're visiting a
TV studio, going to the sym-
phony, taking first aid train-
ing, and, of course, skiing!"
LeeAnn said, smiling.
