Our cover: Scoutmasters who knotc what they're doing usually
stick around for a long time, with a big pat/off to the kids in the
troop. At Oregon Trail Council's Camp Baker, campmasters are on hand every
weekend to help Scout leaders—green or seasoned ones—feel more at home in
the woods with their hoys. "Chuck McCloskey is one ofthese campmasters, and
a darned good one. "Each of us," he says, "has some special talent, and most of
us like to show off our knowledge and skills once in a while." That's what he's
doing with Scout Evan Franulovich of Troop 377, chartered to the New Life
Center American Lutheran Church of Florence, Ore. David Falconer shot our
cover photo and those on pages 16-17.
