Old City Park is a museum of architectural and cultural history of North
Central Texas, 1840-1910, operated by the Dallas County Heritage Society. Occupying
13 acres on the edge of downtown Dallas, the museum consists of more than
35 historic structures furnished to reflect their time period and interpretation. Old
City Park interprets the ethnic, cultural, architectural, and material history of the
region, and is accredited by the American Association of Museums.
Old City Park is open for touring Tuesday through Sunday. Several of the
historic structures, including Pilot Grove Church, Renner School, and the Park Cities
Heritage House, are available for rental for weddings, receptions, meetings, and other
functions. Special arrangements for group tours are available. Call 421-5141 for

Organized in 1922 by a group of 101 Dallas leaders, the Dallas Historical
Society is the oldest historical agency in Dallas. Since 1938 the Society has operated
the Hall of State at Fair Park, a registered National Historic Landmark. Here the
Society offers a full range of historical programs to the general public, including
building tours, changing exhibitions, lectures, and school programs.
In the G. B. Dealey Library in the Hall of State, researchers have access to the
extensive library and manuscript collections owned by the Society, including
documents, maps, historic photographs, books, and periodicals. The Library is open
Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; appointments are encouraged. Please

The Hall of State is open Tuesday through Sunday free of charge, except for
special exhibitions. The Great Hall and the 400-seat lecture hall are available for
