RUNAWAY GIRLS ARE '
APPREHENDED DY SHERIFF
They Chose to It e turn Home Bather
Than Go To Jail and "Were
Released.
Two girls aged 15 and 16 who re-
side near Brownwood conceived the
v .
Idea of taking advantage of the low
rates to Fort "Worth and quietly slip-
ped from their homes and came to
Brownwood hut -arrived too late to
catch the special train and hefore the
regular train left they were in the
custody of Sheriff Denman who re-
turned them to theii parents. Tho girls
do not claim that they had cause for
leaving home other than that they
wanted to see some of theworld and
thought it would be a jolly lark to
visit with friends at Fort Worth while
the faro was low. Their mothers were
considerably disturbed about them and
tho father of one arrived In town at
an early hour in search of the runa-
ways. It is said that the girls walked
a distanco of four or five miles after
mid-night.
