Senator Bailoy who was in Fort
Worth last night en route to Wash-
ington gave out the following statement:
"My enemies have twice preferred
charges against nie before the legisla-
ture those charges have been twice
investigated. I have been twice ex
onerated and twice elected to the sen-
ate. This would have satisfied most
men but my enemies professed a de
sire to have the question passed upon

"Every fair-minded man in this
state must recognize that practically
every vote cast for me represents the
will of a true and loyal democrat; and
while the opposition vote includes a
number of democrats it a ho includes
practically every Socialist. Populist
and Republican who participated in
the Democratic primary. That a
number of such voters participated is
made manifest by the fact that as a
rule the vote against me was propor-
tionally the largest in those counties
and precincts where the- opposition to ; K

the strongest. J
"I believe and -so do my friends i
that the result will be accepted in good ' ft

Vote Reported Anti-Bailey Men.
Carrv Home Counties.
Guided by the returns printed Son-
day morning: the opinion was express-
ed that Senator Bailey's majority
woHld be in the neighborhood of 2.V
OOo. Additional returns received last
night show that this assumption Wiis
not warranted. According to these re-
turns which it may be added serve
also t correct errors made in the first
returns the vote for the Bailey ticket
is lOS.092 and for the Johnson ticket
T SP.99S making the; majority for the
Bailey ticket 1S.059.
This decrease in the'BaHe lead is
dHe manifestly to the fact that Sat-
urday night's returns -were largely
from tle northern hlack land counties
or. to be more .particular those which
constituted the old Fifth Congression-
al District when Senator Bailey repre-
sented it. The returns of last night
S were more largely from other sections
jijl of the state especially from the far
A western and northwestern counties.

tor Bailey its majority.
Bailey's Majority Slender.
That Senator Bailey's majority in
the state considering the size of the
vote is an extremely slender one so
far as the present returns reveal the
fact may be shown in two ways. For
example the returns show that he got
only ".P per ctfnt of the total vote
"cast. The same fact may be shown by
referring to the vote given to him in
the old Fifth District. Here his ma-
jorities were overwhelming and with-
out the partiality which it may be as-'
sumed he enjoyed in those counties
it might have been that his majority
would have been so small as to have
left the result in doubt even till now.
The old Fifth District when Senator
Bailey was its Representative was
composed of Rockwall Collin. Fannin.
Grayson. Denton Montague Cooke and
Wise. These eight counties gave him
a majority of Jft.IHS. which is more
than half of the whole majority.
The returns received last night only
emphasize the fact shown clearly the
night before that Senator Bailey with
only one single exception won large
