will spend a few days here with his

Captain Bruce Low Is at home from
Washington for a. visit with his fath-
ther- Arthur Low and other relatives
and friends. He will return to Wash
ington within a -rew days to resume

Date mid Pecan lonf Cake..
Two packages of dates one pound
of shelled pecans A eggs beaten sep
arately. 1 cup of sugar 1 dup of
floiir 2 teaspoons of bakvng powder
vanilla. Work with the fiiigers the
dates nuts and flour about len min-
utes. With' a spoon add the sugar.
Heat in the egg yojks then the well
beaten whiles. Flavor. Bake slow
ly for one hour in a paper" Hired
tube pan.
Date Cake o Kggs. .
. One cup of dates; 1 cup of pecans
t cup of sugar 2 ups 'of floiir one
tablespoon of butter 1 ctip of "sour
milk one. 'half teaspoon of each so-
da cloves cinnamii and vanilla?.
Cream the butter and sugar. Add tlie
spices milk in which the soda has
been dissolved sift in the flour ami
baking .powder and the dates . and
nuts slightly floured. Bake in a
well greased paper linel tube nan.
Bake. 10 minutes in a slow oven. vFh2s
is' also nice baked in 2. layers and

Grand Haven. Michigan where they
will visit .Mr. and Mrs. George Good-
win and baby . for a few' weeks. They
are. as yet undecided as to where they
go from Michigan but will probably
decide upon some college town in the
north where they will remain during
the school months. .
Dr.. French W. Thompson accom-
panied by Mrs. Thompson' and little
(laughters arrived Monday' from Ken-
tucky and Arkansas. . Dr.' Thompson
who. is the president of Daniel Baker
mapped out an extensive work' for the
college- was delayed on ; his return
trip on account of an accident but -has
college this summer which .-while de-
layed will be rushed to "completion.

Mrs. Heslep-died in 1010 and .shortly
thereafter Mr. Heslep returned to
CaMwell. While here he was engaged

ly dealers who have been clients for

ed on account of the scarcity of ma
terials shortage of labor and the re-
sults of tho strikes among the work-
men. As a re'sult of this the prices
are going higher and higher. While
the prices are now higher than at anyj
previous time they have not reached
the top mark as yet and may not for
some time to come perhaps five
