ly visited her Sunday.

had to spend her vacation in the

birthday today and we hope she

her Daughter and Husband, Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Garvin over the
week-end.

Breaks Arm In
Accident Friday
Master Edward Lee Russell of
Wylie fell and broke his arm
when he was engaged in playful
scuffling with his older brother,
Robert, this past Friday night.
He was taken immediately to
Dr. Ryan in Garland, where the
bone was set, and he was return-
ed to his home. At the writing,
Edward is reported as "up and
attem. again."

Attend Reburial
Of B. R. Waggoner
Mr. and Mrs. Ab Harrison of
Wylie went tto Sand Springs,
Oklahoma this past weejk-end
to attend the re-burial services
of Bennie R. Waggoner, who was
a former buddy in service with
Ab. He was killed on the Phil-
lippine Islands during the end
of manuevers of the war, and
vyas only about 50 feet from Ab
when he met his end in a hail
of Japanese bullets.

Winter Legume Seed
The Collin County Soil Con-
servation District cooperaters
will plant more than fifteen
hundred acres to hairy vetch this
fall. Vetch is an outstanding
winter legume lUited to t h e j
Blaekland as evidenced by sev-
eral successful crops grown last
year in the Collin District and
in the adjoining Dalworth Dis-
trict.
Approximately fifteen thous-
and pounds of vetch will be
planted by cooperators in this
conservation groups in the vicin-
ities of. Piano and Wylie. The
district cooperators in the Me-
Kinney work area have secured
approximately eight thousand
pounds to plant. Personnel of the
Soil Conservation Service office
at Piano, MeKinney, and Rock-
wall will assist the vetch grow-
ers in properly inoculating the
seed prior to planting.
