Letters From
Readers
Dear Sir and friends at
home,
I'm writing to let you and
friends know our change
of address. It seems like
lots of years have went
by since we moved away
but really it has been
a little over three.
We've had a hot , dry
summer here in Midland
this year. We have had
some rain recently. Sure
has helped the grass and
trees here.
We were in Wylie not too
long ago and enjoyed it
very much. Just wish we
could have stayed longer
and saw more of our
friends there. With 4
school age children it
wasn't to oe done.
Sandra is a Junior in High
School here. Glenn is a
freshman. Billy is a 5th
grader and Rebecca , a
2nd grader.
We enjoy receiving The
Wylie News each week.
To all our friends there
a very warm "Hello"
from
Yours truly,
Norma Bentley

Slow-moving drivers who
drive on the inside lanes
of divided highways may
find themselves in
trouble. On September
1 Department of Public
Safety patrolmen began
enforcement of a new state
law which requires that
vehicles traveling at less
than the normal speed of
traffic be driven in the
right-hand lane, or as
close as practicable to the
right-hand curb or edge of
the roaaway, except when
passing.
Another section of the law
Accident's don'f

requires moving traffic to
stay to the right of the cen-
ter line on roadways
having four or more lanes
of traffic, except when
authorized to go to the
left of such center line
by traffic control devices
or when making left turns
into or from alleys, pri-
vate roads or driveways,
regardless of whether
there is a double yellow
stripe or not.
Colonel Wilson E. Speir,
director of the Texas
Department of Public
Safety, said still another
new law provides for the
adoption of a "slow-mov-
ing vehicle emblem" for
display on certain types
of vehicles.
Speir said the measure
requires that a 11
machinery, tractors, or
other vehicles which
operate at a maximum
speed of 25 miles per hour
or less must display a tri-
angular emblem approved
by the DPS on the rear of
the vehicle
Operators of such
vehicles will have until
January 1, 1970 to obtain
emblems approved by the
DPS and mount them as
prescribed by law. Use
of the emblem on other
types of vehicles, or on
fixed objects, is pro-
hibited by law.

IT'S TIME TO CLEAN OUT THE ATTIC
OCTOBER 5-11 is
\\
Oi tober 5 - 11 th is Fire Prevention Week, a good
time to get rid of the debris, junk and refuse in
your attic, basement and garage that could eas-
ily turn into a fire hazard. It is also a good time
to check your wiring and furnace.
Eliminating these risks is one way to reduce our
nation's high annual fire loss which would mean
lower premiums on your insurance. It's well
worth the effort.
