Many thanks to all of you who
have called and expressed your
appreciation this column. This is
your information column, I just
have the fun of writing it.
I am so glad it is spring and we
can get out and do more things. We
enjoyed the Heritage Farmstead
Museum last Wednesday and had a
wonderful lunch at "Fresh Choice."
It was a day well spent.
We had three honorees out of
nine take part in the monthly birth-
day party last Thursday. Everyone
enjoyed pizza, salad, cake, ice
cream, soft drinks, balloons, and
bingo.
We took part in the "Women for
Life" health fair in Richardson on
Saturday. We had medical tests
and were fed and entertained by the
finest.
Every Tuesday is Taxaide Day at
the Center. This service is provid-
ed by AARP and is FREE to any-
one earning a wage and pays
income tax. Please bring all your
information with you. This is a
first come first serve service, but
we make the wait very comfort-
able.
Last Tuesday and today were
dedicated to the "55 Alive" safe
driving class. This class will get
you a 10% discount on your auto
insurance. The class costs $10 per
person and we offer them every 6
months at the Senior Center.
Our next class will be in
September.
A group of seniors enjoyed
going to the Macaroni Grill and
taking in a movie yesterday.
No one has signed up for the
greeting card classes in March so
we will be having them in April. If
you haven't signed up, call today
and put your name on the list.
Class size will be held to 10 per-
sons.
We will also be starting the quilt-
ing class in April. This class is on-
going and will consist of six class-
es scattered out thought the sum-
mer, so you will have time to com-
plete your assignments from each
class. This class requires pre-regis-
tering, some supplies, and a lee.
Class size must have six and not
more than 10, so call today and
enjoy an age old craft of the past
era.
I will be gone from the office
March 9, 10 and II to attend the
Texas Recreation and Parks
Society conference in Corpus
Christi. I expect to come home
with lots more ideas than I already
have and ready to share them with
all the Sachse Seniors. You only
grow old when you do nothing.
Now is the time in your life you
can do whatever you want to do.
Don't let arthritis, bad knees or
hips, allergies, grandchildren, or
family keep you from enjoying
some of our activities.
We have a bus with a handicap
ramp, so now it the time to enjoy
your life. No one else is going to
do it for you.!
Next week we have several
things lined up for your enjoyment.
Other than crafts and games we
have a great potluck luncheon
planned for you on Wednesday,
March 16. We will have announce-
ments and information at 10 a.m.,
entertainment at 10:45 and eat at
11:30 a.m.
We have the "best Grandma
cooks" in North Texas and you are
missing out if you don't join us.
Scott Whitfield will be here to
play some Irish ditties and we will
dine on "Irish Baked Potatoes"
with all the trimmings, veggies,
salads, and of course the finest
desserts. See you there, mark your
calendar!
The very next day. is really St.
Patrick's day so our lunch will be
"Irish Stew" for a dollar. We will
play bingo and have a good time.
The National Honor Society of
Sachse High will be on hand to
assist us in our gaiety.
Be sure you wear your green!
