Edition Next Week
'I he News will issue its "Hack-1 o-Schoul' edition
next week. The edition will be dated August 28,
just five days before the official start of school on
Tuesday, September 2. Classes will begin the day after
the Labor Day holiday.
The issue will contain considerable information tor
teachers, students and parents as well as messages
from our advertisers.
Please be advised that we will appreciate receiving
news and advertising copy no later than 2 p.m. next
Monday.

of the Auxiliary a re urged
to be present for this
undertaking.

dents are candidates for
graduation this month at
Stephen F. Austin State
University.

Stadium on the SFA
campus on August 21 at
8 p.m.

Kindergarten Opens Here September 2

The above photo from last year's Kindergarten at the Wylie Methodist Day School Is a reminder that this year's
classes will get underway on Tuesday, Sept. 2, according to announcement made this week. (See story this
issue.) An orientation session for interested parents will be held Tuesday, August 26, at 8 p.m. in the Methodist
Annex, according to Mrs. Jack Russell, teacher-director of the school. In addition to the Kindergarten, the

opening day for the
Kindergarten at the Wylie
Methodist Day School. The
class will be under the
direction of Mrs. Jack
Russell, who has been
teacher - director since
the school opened 2 years
ago.
The Kindergarten oper-
ates Mondav through
Friday from 9:00 a.m. to
12 noon and Is open to
children of the commu-
nity who are 5 and6 years
of age. The director, Mrs.
Russell, has made plans
to hold a Kindergarten
Orientation meeting for
interested parents on
Tuesday, August 26 at 8:00
p.m. in the Methodist
Annex. Children may be
registered at this time or
on the opening day of
school.
Registration forms and
other information may be
secured by calling the
church office 394-5835, or
394-5594 or by calling
Mrs. Russell at 394-2059.
It is the design of the
Kindergarten to prepare
children for the first
grade - it is not a sub-
stitute and does not
attempt to cover activities
which will be duplicated
in the public school first
grade. The emphasis in
Kindergarten is upon
READINESS In the areas
of reading and numbers
as well as social matura-
tion which makes the
easier transition from the
home to the class room.
In addition to the Kinder-
garten the Day School
offers all day care for
children from 2 years of
age. The day care
program runs from 7:00
a.m. to 6:00 p.m daily,
Monday through Friday

The News Salutes All
Who Had Part In Program
This week The News salutes the hundreds of local
youngsters who participated In the Little League
Summer Baseball program in Wylie.
In addition to the team members, who also pay tribute
to the sponsors and to the team managers, as well as
any and all who had a part in another successful
season.
This summer recreational program is partly financed
by your Wylie United Fund and those citizens who so
generously support this drive each year are to be
commended for helping to make sucn a worthwhile
program possible.

Due to a shortage of lighted fields they playea their
games with out-of-town teams on Wednesday mornings.
The girls played a total of six games and won them all.
