One Great Question.
Every physioian we have talk-
ed with vipws the sanitary situa-
tion as one of mubh gravity at
the present time. "I never had
tpyhoid fever patients at so early
a date as this year and it is not
an encouraging sign for it to de-
velop: so early. Our town cannot
provide sowers too quiok; and in
the meantime our sanitary com-
mittee cannot bo. too strict in re-
quiring obedience to the ordi-
nances" remarked a prominent

Abilene is the cleanest town
we know so far as her streets
and alleys are concerned. We
do dot believe that any town qan
show up any better in this re-
speot. The only thing she is
short in is the condition of her
closets and a few places where
water stands until it becomes
foul with a fow pig pons to pol-
luto the air.
"One of mynoighbors.hns.kept
a pig pen within GO feet of my
house for years and thp foul
odors from it are almost unbeara-
ble at times but what'eap I do?
If I complain I make a life-time
enemy. If I say nothing I suffer
an injustice and risk my health.
Altogether I find it more in ac-
cordance with my feelings to
risk the health of my family than
to offend a neighbor and friend
of lonrr yoars standing" said
