Abilene and the district of country
tributary is situated in that section of
Texas usually considered as the dry

and yet the average rainfall is given
at 30 inches a year and its produc-

oats-50 to 100 bushels corn 40 to 50
bushels and' cotton 1-2 t5i bale.
That is good enough on paper and
now if by actual5Xhibition at the fair
the proof sustains the assertion it will
go far towards dispelling the hereto-

Wejnight not be abjeto convince
the people by any amofint of talk but
show them samples of our corn and
cotton wheat and oats vegetables
fruits &c and these arguments will
convince the most sceptical. Our
fairs are the place to do this. By all
means see to it every one of you that
Coleman county is fully represented
at our district fair nt Abilene on the
3d 4th and 5th of October for we
will want a large number of the many
strangers who will be there to come
down to Coleman and "see the lands
and the beautiful country that pro-
dnced our rich harvest. The Abilene
people are doing all within their power
to make it pleasant for our people
and want them to be at the fair and

almost tempted to shout back to the

advantages of our county. Gov. Ross

ever had and by the wayhe is a

It is all important jthat Shackelford
county should make a favorable im-
pression on Gov Ross and the many
strangers who will be there that' she is
entitled to No county in the whole
district can make a show of fine stock
anyway to compare with )he stock
that our people own. Nothing im-
presses the stranger so favorably as
fine stock and nothing affords as
as great a source of wealth to a coun-
try as its fine stock. Wc mttsl make
a show that will be a credit to our
county and to our .section of.the state.
And this is not all. We must have' as
fine corn cotton wheat oats .barley
and other small grain fruits and vege-
tables as any other county can show.
