SCOUT
HAYS
j rooks Hays, former congress-
man, staunch churchman, and an offi-
cial of the Tennessee Valley Authority
says of his boyhood days:
"My service was brief, and it was
in the early days of Scouting before
facilities were very effective, particul-
arly in the small town where I grew
up. Scouting did, however, bring me
a lot of pleasure and established some
ties that I have cherished through life.
"The troop was organized by Walter
E. Wilson, a leading Presbyterian in
Russellville, Arkansas, but the troop
was not limited to members of his
church. I was at that time, and still
am, a strong Baptist. Mr. Wilson is
still living and is a farmer at Wood-
son, Arkansas. His influence on the
boys of our community was whole-
some .. . and he is typical of the
thousands of dedicated men through-
out America who, through Scouting,
are helping to build character."
Our guest speaker today is a
real Eagle.
