AN EXPANDING Dl'SlNKBti
Oue of tbe beut evidence of tbe t
paualoa of IWaumout. and of Beau
mout Influence la the tinuicuao butt-
nesa done by tbe Beaumont Steam
Laundry. When you are Ulklng about
tbe benefits of a factory In Beaumont
and tbe number of people employed in
a rlco mill Just atep down to tbe
Boaumoat Steam Laundry and aee bow
many people are getting their bread
and butter there. At present there
are thirty-three people employed bo-
Idea Messra. 8heptrd and Ridley and
tba weekly pay roll la about f300.
Three years ago only eighteen per-
sons were employed aud of course tbe
pay roll was correspondingly leas. If
tbeae people depended on tba laundry
work of Beaumont the benefit to the
city would not be any leu but tbe
fact Is a large part of tbe work comes
from surrounding towns which have
been getting tbeir laundry work done
In other cities lloustou baa been com
pletely abut out from tbla territory
and In one week thirty-ulna baskets
of laundry bave been received from
surrounding towns. The trade bring
In several thousand dollars annually
and the fact that such a large volume
has been secured reflects credit on tbe
work and business methods of Messrs.
Sheperd & Ridley. Three years ago
tbe room needed for this work was
but little more thnn half what It is
now.
Tbe building now occupied Is 30x120
two stories and every foot of it Is
used by the laundry and a large addi-
tion la contemplated. Somo very nlco
office Improvements bave just been
put in which Includes a nice cabinet
book-keeper's desk and long distance
telephone making tho office both com-
fortable and better adapted to tho
needs ot the business.
Tbe Beaumont Steam Laundry Is a
business enterprise which reflects cred-
it on our city and we are ' always
pleased to chronicle Its progress.
