rounding the theft of $175000 from the
United States sub-treasury here has
been cleared up. The alleged thief Is
said to bo a negro scrub woman for-
merly employed in the building and
she is now being sweated. "The clue
was secured by secret service men
when tho negro woman displayed a
one thousand dollar bill in a saloon
recently.

adopted. A letter from tho Parker
Amusement company to J. F. Handy
chairman of tho entertainment commit
tee conveyed the information that tho
company was not playing any more In
Texas. Mr. Handy was Instructed to
continue his correspondence with oth-
er companies and see what attractions
could bo secured. John L. Stephenson
volunteered to Bqe the secretary of
the Dallas Fair association while in
that city with reference to learning
what worthy attraction could ho se-
cured for tho summer carnival.
A number of horsemen were present
at tho meeting nnd Mr. Morrison sug-
gested that they be heard from and It
was recommended by them that sever-
al large purses be offered for tho com-
ing carnival.
S. D. Jobe staled that several base-
ball teams wero desirous of making
dates to play a serlea of games and
he was Instructed to sccuro a definite
proposition from some of them.
Tho horsemen wero requested to
contlnuo tho work with Mr. Morrison
nnd to formulate some' definite pro-
gram that could? bo adopted for tho
coming event
Mr. Scott's request for tho use of tho
stalls was granted with tho under-
standing that tho grounds wero to be
kept clean and tho track to bo kept In

reputation for public spirit enterprise
