ARE YOU
THE L
A
PICTURE*
When the Scout-to-be looks at you—he sees the Boy Scouts of
America. To him, you personify Scouting. As he eagerly absorbs
every detail of your appearance and performance, he reads a mes-
sage of overwhelming importance in your uniform. It speaks to
him of pride in Scouting, and confidence in the boys you lead. It
says, "Here is a Troop alive with the reflection of expert leader-
ship, promising good times ahead" . .. And it invites him to join.
Show each new boy a uniformed Leader at the head of a Troop
smoothly rolling through fun-filled activities . . . Give him a
picture into which he wants to fit—and he will become a Scout.
Build your Unit. . . attend every meeting in full Official Uniform.

That new boy . .. Just tivelve years old, he stands at
the door of the meeting room, on the threshold of
Scouting. He is a little shy, a little bewildered, and
a little scared. His Scouting future hangs by a deli-
cate balance—a balance of words and actions, of the
things he sees and hears during this, his first meeting.
