But, check yourself first. ... It often happens that many a
Scoutmaster fails to win the whole-hearted approval of his
Troop because of his personal appearance. And yet it is
the easiest part of your job. Trim, smart tailored Official
Leader's Uniforms are available ready-made for just about
the cost of an every day suit of clothes.
Then check your Junior Leaders. . . . Always keep in mind
that boys usually do as their Leaders do. And if your
Junior Leaders are careless about their appearance it is
almost certain that the whole Troop will not be neatly,
correctly and Officially Uniformed. Your Junior Leaders
can obtain a complete Official outfit at very little cost.
Then you can check your boys.... If you and your Junior
Leaders are properly and Officially Uniformed, the
chances are your boys will need no checking because
they will follow your example. See to it that they wear
the Official Uniform neatly and correctly. . . . But check
them just the same. It will show that you are interested
in their personal appearance, and it will make them try
all the more to uphold the prestige of the Troop by
wearing only the Official Uniform.
