The Departm ent of the
Army Active Duty Board
(DAADB) will meet on or
about April 28 to begin selec-
tion of personnel to be
“riffed”.
All officers released or dis-
charged will be from year
groups 1967 through 1970 which
means active duty entry from
July 1 1966 through June 30
1970.
Approximately 27 hundred
records will be sent to the
DAADB from the Military
(MILPERCEN) for considera-
tion. From this group about 22
hundred captains and lieute-

Announcement was made by Depart-
ment of the Army Friday Feb. 14 of the
assignment of Brig. Gen. John G. Hill Jr.
to Headquarters III Corps and Ft. Hood
from Saudi Arabia.
General Hill will arrive at Ft. Hood in
April. He is a 1946 graduate of the U.S.
Military Academy and is currently chief
United States Military Training Mission to
Saudi Arabia.
In September 1965 Gen. Hill served at
Ft. Hood as the assistant chief of staff for
operations III Corps and in August 1966
he became commander of the 3rd
Brigade 2nd Armd. Div. until February
1968. He also served as chief of staff Fifth
U.S. Army at Ft. Sam Houston from July
1972 to August 1973.
General Hill will replace Col. Joseph N.
Jaggers Jr. who has been III Corps and
Ft. Hood chief of staff since July 8 1974.
Colonel Jaggers is on the current promo-
tion list to brigadier general. His new as-
signment has not been announced.

Vietnam era veterans can
receive help from Federal
agencies in finding employ-
ment with the government.
The U.S. Civil Service Com-
mission under an ongoing pro-
ram of re itin is
authorized by an Executive
Order of March 1970 to make
Veterans’ Readjustment Ap-
pointments for those who
qualify after discharge from
the service. Applicants may
apply ire tly ith the
employing agency without pro-
cessing through regional Qvil
Service Commission Offices.
The Vietnam era began on
Aug. 5 1964. Veterans who
served actively after this date
and who have no more than 14
years of total education (no
more than 2 years of college)
are eligible for the special ap-
pointments.
Agencies are authorized to
appoint veterans up to posi-
tions of GS 3 or WG 3 whom
they consider capable of
performing the required duties
of such positions. At the Grade
4 or 5 positions the veterans
must meet the appropriate
competitive standards and
written tests if required for
eligibility.
Veterans who are selected
for appointment will receive
on-the-job training classroom
training or basic or remedial
education. These employees
may obtain their high school
diplomas or GED equivalen
those notified of release or dis-
charge. To help those affected
all officers released by the
DAADB who have at least five
years of continuous active
service prior to release will be
eligible for readjustment pay.
Regular Army officers who
are “riffed” will be offered an
opportunity to apply for ap-
pointment in the U.S. Army
Reserve. Reserve officers will
retain their commissions and
revert to inactive status.
If there are no changes to
the Fiscal Year ’76 authorized
end strength of approximately
98 thousand the Department
of the Army has stated that it
is hopeful this will be the last

benefits for training provided
or paid for by the employing

special counseling in connec-
