CAMP TUCKAHOE'S CUB WORLD
NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM COUNCIL
LET IMAGINATIONS SOAR
at Camp Tuckahoe's Cub World,
where boys turn into Old West
cowboys, medieval knights, and
swashbuckling pirates—all before
lunch. Above, Cub Scouts do
their best Huck Finn impressions
as they work their raft around
Memory Lake, a fine substitute
for the Mississippi River.
The raft is one of a dozen
interactive opportunities for boys
at the Cub World, which is located
about a half-hour from Harrisburg,
Pa. Here's what else you'll find:
► A frontier fort and a medieval
castle that dwarf anything
you'd experience at your local
playground. Leaders, you'll
appreciate that each facility
is a year-round cabin for 40,
complete with a full kitchen,
showers, and a heated sleep-
ing area.
► A pirate ship, one of Camp
Tuckahoe's most-visited spots,
lets Cub Scouts take to the high
seas from the safety of dry
land. Inside, there's room for 20
mateys to rest their heads.
► Other must-see sites include a
Native American village that
sleeps nine, a tree house that
offers sweeping views of nature
at the camp, a simulated under-
ground mine, and ranges for
archery and BB guns.
