Critical Point Expected
During Present Week in
Great Britain
Umdon. Feb. IP. The present
week promises to bring the women's
suffrage uimpalgn to a critical point
and It Is even within the range of
possibility that the quest on will
c:n h Its climax by being broiuh'i
squarely before Parliament. In an
ticipation of the Impending submis
sion to the House of Commons of a
women's suffrage mill the .uhoiutes
of woman's affrace and the oppon-
ents of womnn's enr:m hisemeut
have made their plans or a last tre-
mendous effort On Friday a hi;
meeting will be held at Albert Hal
under the auspices of the National
Cnlon of Women Suffrage Societies
and Mr. Lloyd (Seorge. the Chancellor
of the Exchequer will be the prin-
cipal speaker. The last gun of the
antl-suffrsglsts will be fired on Wed-
nesday of next week when a meet-
tnn nnW the nph"s W"xW-ritioe
al League for Opposln Woman Suf-
frage will be held at Albert IUU.
Iord Cromer the president of the
organization will preside at that
meeting and Lord Cn.mer I-or J Cur-
zon. Lord Lorcburn. Mr. Ifanourt
and a numbe of prominent I'nlonists
will be among the speake.
The woman's suffrage question
was not a matter of national politi-
cal Importance tn its early stages
but it gained enormously in lniHr-
tance when Chancellor Lloyd-iJeorce
openly osousod the cause of "votes
for women." Never before had a
hUh government official In England
chiiinploned the cause until Mr.
I.loyd-deorge entered the lists ready
to fight for the franchise principle
and to carry the contest directly be-
fore the House of Commons. The
fad that he and the Prime Minister
Mr. Asquith are on opposing sides
on this Important Insue. makes the
situation even more acute and there
are many who believe that the wom
an s iranrmse issue will cause a
split not only In the cabinet but in
the Liberal party and may even-
tually precipitate a national crisis
In the political situation.

Fort Worth Tex.. Feb. 19. Th
smoldering Intense finding at the
Suced trial burst like a volcano to-
day when Ixn Doyce youngest son
of Col. A. (I. Royce killed here on
January 13 by J. R. Sneed. made a (
desperate attempt to assault V. P.
McLean attorney for the defense.
Doyce's aged mother was on the
stand rAost of the time. With tI-
dent effort she controlled herself and
answered all questions. In her tes-
timony she declared that Col. Doyce
instead of leading a conspiracy to
unite Albert G. Royce Jr. and Mra
Lena Sneed. made continual and
strenuous efforts to separate them.
Attorney McLean characteristic-
ally had asked some pertinent ques-
tions on tho verge of sarcasm. Len
Royce sitting fifteen feet from the
attorney was whittling a stick with
a knife lie frequently glanced at
his mother and McLean nervously
and frowned.
Suddenly McLean asked: "Don't
you believe Mrs. Royce that a man
who has disgrartd and run over his
father aud mother stealing another
man's wife and killing his little chil-
dren should be placed in a sanita-
rium or penitentiary."

yer's mouth when the six-foot Pan-
handle cattleman agile as a tiger
sprang over chairs and men and made
a prab for McLean. Six pairs of
hands dragged him back however
ami after a struggle he desisted and
sat down quietly. Judge Swayno
fined him f 1 "it and sentenced him to
soirve an hour In Jail. He was ord-
ered to leave the court room also.
Later young Royte met Mclean and
both aiHilogized.
Mrs Royce kept her compofire
throughout th excitement and even
sent a bottle of camphor to her son
thinking to q ilet him. The question
wns never answered. Sneed who sat
within a few feet of Royce. became
ghastly pale.
