The new theater is now nearly fin-
ished on Main street and is to be
opened mi Thursday night Mr.
Thompson insures us that he Is going
to turn over a new leaf and open al-
together a ditlcrent sort of establish-

His theater is to be altogether a bet-
ter class place of amusement. It is
his wish to make it legitimate decent
and chaste in the character of amuse-
ments catered for the respectable class.

The Dallas Branch Mercantile Agciicy
Mr. D. Webster resident partner In
New Orleans of tho old established
mercantile agency of H. O. Dunn &
Co. has visited our city with a view of
establishing a branch agency of the
firm here. Within a few of the re-
quired number of subscribers have
been secured by the indefatigable en
ergy of that popular business man and
gentleman Mr. ' J. Mussina. There
are now but a few more subscribers
needed aud it is to be hoped that the
importance to the business interests of
this section aud city will at once im
press upon our business men the ad-
vantages of coming forward at onee
aud subscribing. There is noting bet-
ter calculated to give conlidonce In
Dallas abroad than the establishment
of this agency here.
A FIXED FACT.
The Kust Fork Bridge to be llullt at
Last.
This important enterprise Is at last
to be carried out and the bridge built.
The Rockwall Banner has the par
ticulars of a meeting there to put the
thing in shupe. The proposition of Dal-
las wasmude through Mr. R. T. Tomp-
kins to the ellect that Dallas would
furnish an iron bridge laid down at the
proposed crossing free of expense if
Rockwall would pay for the erection of
the same furnish the necessary lum
ber and construct apii-oaches. Mr. 8.
A. Oliver agent of Z. King & Sons
proposed to erect it for four hundred
dollars. Five hundred aud thirty-nine
dollars was then subscribed on tho
spot four hundred and eighty-two dol-
lars aud llfty couts in cash and sixty-
uiue dollars and fifty cents in work
and lumber. A committee was ap-
pointed to make tho necessary con-
tracts and furnish tho work whicli is
to lie done in u week after everything
is made ready. Tho proposed crossing
is about one mile above Moses Sim-
mons' house where line bigli banks
are found on hot Ii sides. On the west
side no approaches whatever are nec-
essary and on tlio east side (hero will
be a rise of about live feet. This places
the bridge above high water mark
while through tlio bottom only a few
rods of the road overflows.' The river
is tixty-live feet wide while the bridge
Is uiuety-seveu feel in length. This
secures nearly twenty feet of the bridge
on cither bank.
At Tlioiuiui ('Impel.
On White Rock creek on tho night of
November 28th the Good Templars of
that vicinity held a fair fair to raise
funds to complete the chapel.
It was a deserved success. The la-
dies and gentlemen concerned acquit-
ted themselves handsomely. Mat-
rons and maidens graced the occa-
sion as only the pure and lovely cau
do. Beauty shono in its most capti-
vating array. Brief addresses were
made by Messrs. W. H. Scales and
John Henry Brown of Dallas and Pro-
fessor Sion S. Record of that vicinity
and at a late hour the happy partici-
pants adjourned to their respective
homes.
