From the superintendent of the
track who called upon ua yesterday
we learn that on today week the
guage of the Ceutral road between Cor-
alcana and Hearne will be changed to
conform to the guage from Corwleaua
to Denison.
Emigrants.
There arrived yesterday In this city
per the Pacific road two hundred and
twenty emigrant from Tennessee.
They aro mostly of the farming ele-
ment and will locate partly In this
county and the balance In Navarro
and Tarrant counties. Their baggage
filled two cars and amounted to forty
thousand pounds.

Moluturff . who shot Spencer on
Weduesday night and then fled re-
turned yesterday aud gave himself up.
Since our report of the affair Mr. Allen
Collins father-in-law of the wounded
man called at our olllce and makes
this statement: The shooting Was un-
provoked; Spencer has no children ex-
cept an Infant fifteen days old and
therefore none of "his children"
threw anything into Molnturff's well.

Spencer supposed to have grown out
of a land sale made to 8. S. bad no
weapon on his person as some have
reported nor has any about bin premi-
ses; does not keep them.

terday the beautiful place of Captain
Harwood three miles west of this city
for four thousand five hundred dollars.
The chairmen of the committee
on contributions for the barbecue are
requested by Mayor Cabell chair-
man of the executive committee to re-
port the result of their labors on the
28th Inst.
