REUIHTRATION.
We call the attention of every man
In this countv. who has not already
reuistercd. to the notice of Mr. John
tw. Tjiws. District Clerk announcing
tlmt the hooks of registration In cao!
of the seventeen voting precincta of
the countv will be opened from tlie
25th to the 30th of October. In other
words registration will commence on
next Saturday tbe twenty-fifth and
will continue through Monday Tues-
day Wednesday and Thursday.
This will enable all who have uot
heretofore registered to do so in
their own neighborhood. Dutitshould
also be remembered that after this
general registration all who may be
sick absent or otherwise prevented
can sUll register In the District Clerk's
office up to Friday November 28 after
which the books sUnd closed against
nil others until the ensuing election
hall have passed.
We would respectfully remind the
County Court of its duty to meet as a
Board of Revision the second Monday
after commencement of registration.
The duty is imperative without which
Pallas county may be disfranchised.
The election by the State of Ohio of
wiiiinm Allen as Governor is ono of
those timely yet extraordinary cvcntB
nli-uluted to revive hdpe In the minds
of those who sometimes give up the
future of our country. Mr. Allen was
long the compeer of Calhoun Clay
Webster Ronton and others of emi-
nence. He has ever been a Democrat
andamuu without moral or political
blemish. For many years perhaps
over twenty he has been In private
life till recently put upaa the straight-
out Deruoeraticcnndidate for Governor
of tho great State of Ohio so long
held In possession by the Republican
party. To the astonishment of our
peopte in Texas and greatly to their
Joy he 1ms beaten the present Repub-
liejin Governor a stromg and popular
limt. The legislature Is also Demo-
. st ic. insuring the re-election of Hon.
A. G. T'.mi inan an able and pure Dem

tiiiih it will bo seen that we have
registered up to this time (October 23d)
3789 votes in Dallas county.
Recently we claimed mot on u ycij
moderate registration we would have
4.000 votes in the county and on a full
registration about ouw. ojookwb i-
tbe above figures there can be no
dmiht but our county ougnt to cast
almost 5000 votes ranking us already
as one of the three largest counties In
the State.
We hope every man Democrat and
Radical may register and vote. There
are beyond doubt enough unregistered
men in the county to swell thewhoje
number to 5000. Outside of patriotism
even on tho sordid ground of self-interest-let
ull come out aud register.
By a united effort Dallas cau oast a
larger vote than any county In Texas.

The counties of Dallas Tarrant and
Ellis are entitled to elect ono Senator
aud three Representatives to the next
Legislature. A Senator under our
Itadictd svstem. Is equal to
three Representatives. Therefore
Ellis countv. an Tarrant heretofore has
not only one-half but one-third of the
other half of our entire legislative
power. In other words Ellis has four-
nixtUs of our united voice in making
law.. Heretofore Tamnt had the
name disproportionate power.
Now we venture to predict thBt
Dallas county will oast about as many
votes as Ellis and Tarrant combined.
If so she ought to hav ea legislative
Muni to theirs combined. But
how does it stand ? Dallas with one-
half the votes of the district to allotted

We throw out these plain facts now
before the election to show our two
sister counties that we have been put
t an inferior disadvantage by their
united vote. Why so? We are sup-
porting tbe ticket but our people do
not like the treatment. In the Waxa-
hachie convention Dallas county was
unjustly dealt by.

The release of Sauta nta and Big Tree
Instead of producing good results
seems to have given new life U the
wild tribes in their Invasions upon our
frontier. From all directions West
Northwest and Southwest we hear of
renewed depredations. Doubtless the
body' of the. ignorant Kiowas aud
Ooinauchc8 regard the release of those
two chiefs as a concession to their
power and bravery. On the principle
of "giving the devil his due" wo are
satisfied Governor Davis yielded them
up against his own judgment and only
at the earnest solicitation of the Federal
authorities.
Persons visiting Galveston or going
further should by all means when
thev reach Houston take the boats of
the Houston Direct navigation wm
nanv. which run between Houston and
Galveston in connection with all the
railroads and the Morgan line or steam
era. Wo have often traveled on tne
steamers of this line and have no hes-
itation In recommending them to the
favor of our friends. The veteran Cap-
tain Sterrett or our good friend Cap
tain Pat Christian are deservedly unt
vernal favorites.
