C. E. CONVENTION EN-
ENTERTAINMENT FEATURE
Among tbe social events planned
for the Paris District Christian En-
deavor Union Convention at Mt.
Pleasant on September 18, 19 and 20
Hn a banquet and a picinc.
Tbe banquet will be under the dir-
ection of the entertainment commit-
tee In charge of Mrs. A. C. Hoffman,
land plans are already completed to
jnake it the big social feature of the
convention.
The picnic, which will He) given
■the visiting delegates will be on
(Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19 and it
Vs expected that it will do much to
jnake the spirit of informal good fel-
lowship predominate for the remain-
ing session of the gathering.
Many Laborers Moving
in From South Texas
Trucks, oars, wagons, in fact
almost every conceivable mode of
transportation, Is being used by white,
Mexican, and negro, laborers of South
and Central Texas in the mad rush
for our particular section of tbe
State. All the highways and byways
leading toward Red River County
from the stricken areas of central
Texas are clutted with every variety
of vehicle in all conceivable statea
of repair and roads seem to lead only
one way.
In all, the affair is remindful of
the days of '49 when the continent |
seem to be possed with an Insane de- j
sire to reach the Gold Coast. And
Clarksvillo and Red River County I
has been converted, overnight intoj
the most sought after place in Texas.
A Gold Coast.
Our town has suddenly become the |
storm center for the activities of |
thousands of our less-fortunate kins-
men in search of livelihood for them
selves and families.
